I miss you already
I miss you already
And you aren't even gone.
I don't want to think
About being alone.
Although that last statement
Is honestly not true,
Because deep in my heart
I will always have you.
Summer break is almost here. A lot of my friends will be graduating and moving away. My boyfriend is going to go off to law school. People are going home during the summer vacation and will be gone for several months. This makes me sad. :-( I'm going to miss everybody. My roommate and I will most likely crumble into a spiraling depression together and curl up into a ball of sadness doing nothing but watching sad chick flicks and eating ice cream to comfort ourselves. That makes us sound really pathetic. Well, we will definitely miss our friends who are graduating and moving on to other things in their lives. We will miss those who will be gone for the summer break, but won't see until August. It's just one of those things that is a part of being a college kid and having to deal with the school year coming to an end. It's hard to deal with, but the friendships that we have and share are what will keep us strong and together even though we may be hundreds of miles away. Thank goodness for email, texts, facetime, skype, facebook, snapchat, snail mail, and all other ways that we can keep in contact with each other. I've just gotta remember to keep myself occupied to distract myself from missing everyone and to remember to stay in touch with everyone who is important to me. I have many great friends that I have made over the last 4 years. And I will try my hardest to keep them going because they all matter.
This is a blog where I'm helping develop my poetic creativity and sharing it with those who also enjoy writing and reading poems.

I love you
I love you
I love you
Yes, it's true
I've thought it through
And you will do
I saw you
And I knew
You were
My dream
Come true
Here is something short and sweet. I wanted to be able to post something new on here. It's different in that every line ends with the same rhyme sound. This next week is my Spring Break. I'll be going home for the week. It's also the week of my sister's birthday, which just so happens to be St. Patrick's Day too. And exactly a week after her birthday is my dad's birthday. Hopefully while I'm home I can get caught up on sleep, do some baking, and just enjoy visiting my mom and dad before I have to head back to school again. We'll see what plans I can come up with for the week.

unconditionally
unconditionally
why choose me
i'm not perfect
i have flaws
i make mistakes
i'm not impressive
why love me
why am i special
surely there
is someone better
someone smarter
someone who could
give you more
why choose this broken
substandard being
with countless imperfections
but to you
those things don't matter
your focus is different
you see past my flaws
my imperfections
my rough spots
instead
you see my strengths
and all of my beauty
you see more
you see my heart
you see me for who i am
you see me for what i am
and for what i want to be
you see me for what matters most
as the one
you love
unconditionally
Here's a poem about love that's unconditional. Why ask all the questions of the reasons why someone loves you when you have all these faults? They know you have them, yet to them it does not matter. Why I bet that they probably have some of their own. And you probably are the same way. But even with those faults of yours, a person who truly and unconditionally loves you will see past those imperfections and love you for all that you have to offer and all that you are.
I'm deciding to post this poem too just because I'M SO BEHIND WITH POSTS FOR THIS MONTH! Maybe December will be better. :-)

It Is You
It Is You
What’s wrong with me?
Am I obsessed?
My heart keeps pounding
Inside my chest.
What did I do
For something like this?
I must be in heaven
Everything is bliss.
I can’t get enough
I need more each day
No one can change it
I must get my way
It’s hard to say
What’s inside my head
But without those feelings
I’d rather be dead.
What can make
Me feel so alive?
It is you babe
That makes my heart thrive
I know that it has been a while since I've written anything. Here's an old poem I wrote when I was in high school. November may be a slow month. School is getting busy and soon Thanksgiving break will be coming up. Hopefully sometime I can catch back up and be posting on a more regular basis.

Autumn Leaves
Autumn Leaves
The leaves are changing.
They are exchanging
Their old pigmentation
For new coloration.
Goodbye to greens.
Hello new scenes.
Autumn is here.
It has appeared.
We now say hello
To red and yellow
And oranges too
Of every hue.
And when all the leaves
Have left the tree eaves
Autumn is "Goodbye"
And winter is "Hi".
I LOVE THE FALL! I am seriously ready to have the change of weather. Bring on the cooler temperatures, fall colors, college football, pumpkins, hot chocolate/coffee, Halloween, Thanksgiving, and the opportunity to wear hoodies, boots, and jeans! I think that the fall is my favorite season. And, I'm grateful to being able to live in a state where we have the chance to live all 4 seasons every year. Gotta love Oklahoma! It has been cooler these last few days. It needs to stay that way or even cool down another 10-20 degrees. I'd be perfectly fine with that too.

There were never such devoted sisters.
There were never such devoted sisters.
Would you please go away?
Having you near ruins my day.
I know this all sounds rather rude,
But I don’t care. You’ve killed my mood.
If only you could disappear
Or teleport away from here.
I do not like you next to me
Even though you are family.
But I’ll still love you to the end.
You are my sister and best friend.
I have a wonderful sister. And I love her very much. She's basically my best friend. I don't know what I would do without her. She has been someone who has given me advice, looked out for me, and has made me laugh and smile. She's such a great example to follow. Also, she is a wonderful artist. If you haven't seen her work on her blog go to her blog here: hannahtuohyillustrator.blogspot.com and check out some of her drawings. She's wonderful.
I miss and love you, Hannah Banana!

Family...
Here's the second poem that I promised you guys! Goodnight people of the internets!
Family
My family tree
Is somewhat crazy
But they disagree
And without me
My dear family
Would basically
Be boring
I love my family. I have blessed with such amazing parents, cousins, aunts, uncles, grandparents, and a great sister and brother-in-law. I'm so happy to be where I am in life and all of the memories that I have with everyone who has been in it. I like looking back at all I've done with my family. The vacations, holidays, get-togethers. So many fun times shared together. I am excited to look to the future to see what more life with my wonderful family has in store. :-) There are so many memories. I'm ready to make new ones. What memories do you have with your family?

too long...
too long...
it's been too long since
laughter
it's been too long since
smiles
i'm tired of living on memories
the good times
the bad times
things shared
i want new ones
it's been too long
i miss you
Here's a short little poem that didn't really take me too long to write. I feel this way with missing people sometimes. Like right now, I miss my sister and brother-in-law, my friends from when I was at Oklahoma Christian, and especially my boyfriend. Summers are hard when people live far away! :-P So... Let me know what you think! Feel free to share! Also, here is a picture from my yard that I took a while back. It's perdy!

Pray For Oklahoma
I'm an Okie. And I'm proud of it. I love living in this part of the country. I get to experience all four seasons. Fall, winter, spring, and summer. I live on a small acreage outside of Enid, Ok. And I have cow pastures and wheat fields around me. I love my home. And my friends and family here have blessed me so much. I couldn't imagine having it suddenly taken away from me. Having my life completely change. Recently there have been storms that have gone through and around the areas of Oklahoma City, Shawnee, Bethel, Moore, and El Reno. These were storms that had deadly results and caused catastrophic damage. I really feel for these people and I know that I couldn't imagine going through the events that have occurred recently. And, I hope that I never have to. But, I have this short little something that I thought that I would share. I don't know if it's a poem that should really have a title or if it even needed one, but I think it's how we feel as Oklahomans. We may be beaten and battered, but Oklahoma will always be home.
Things may be lost and broken.
Gone.
Missing forever.
Some things cannot be replaced.
Loved ones lost, who can't come home.
Now life is different.
But nothing will keep us down forever.
We are strong.
We are resilient.
We have faith.
And a hope to start over.
Loved ones will be remembered.
Things can be rebuilt and replaced.
Life can start again.
We can work together.
With prayer and determination.
This is where we live, and we are enduring.
We're proud to be in Oklahoma and a part of this state.
This is home.
With that being all said and done, find a charity or an organization and make a donation sometime. Volunteer. Do something to better someone else rather than yourself. Here's some ideas: serving at a soup kitchen, picking up trash along the side of the road, donating to a thrift store, volunteer to walk/play with the cats and dogs at an animal shelter. Just do something and get out there and help others. And, I bet that you will actually feel good about it in the end too!

Any ideas for a title for this one?
Here's another little short love poem. It's just something that I wrote today mostly for fun. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to share my writing with your friends! :-) Any ideas for a title though? I couldn't really come up with something that I liked myself. I'll take suggestions!
There are so many things
That I love about you.
So here's a short list.
I'll just name a few.
Your voice and laugh
Are music to me.
Your stunning blue eyes
Are just like the sea.
Your smile shines like
The sun in the sky.
I love all of you.
Don't ask me why.
It is something that I cannot explain.
I simply love you. So don't you complain.
The best thing about you though
Is your heart that's so kind.
It makes me feel blessed
To know that it's mine.
There are so many things
That I love about you.
So here's a short list.
I'll just name a few.

Untitled Love Poem
Untitled Love Poem
He’s my drug and my addiction.
He’s my disease and my affliction.
But it’s a bug I don’t mind catching.
My heart each day he is snatching.
Days are brighter with him.
Without him, blue skies would be dim.
He calls me beautiful every day.
And that only makes me want to stay
Even longer in his embrace
And give one more kiss on his face.
I smile more with him in sight.
To make what we have work, I’m
willing to fight.
Come what may, I will make it
last.
I’ve fallen for him and it
happened fast.
I never thought it could be like
this.
He had my heart before the first
kiss.
Each day with him ends up the
best.
I’m in love. Who would’ve guessed?
Here's a cheesy, corny, mushy, love poem for you guys. I wrote this one during the summer of 2010 as well. I think it could be worked on here or there, but I think it's still pretty good. Maybe, I'll try another love poem sometime. See if I've gotten any better. :-P

Mothers Are Important People
This is for all the mom's out there, including my own wonderful mother. I love you, mom! Happy Mother's Day! You have blessed Hannah and I so very much and given us an abundance of love to us both. Thank you for all that you have done! Isn't my family cute too? :-)
Mothers Are Important People
A mother is a very important person in your life.
Not only is she your mom, but she is also your dad's wife.
She is loving to your father and a mother to you.
But she is really many things. I'll quickly name a few.
She can be a doctor when you are sick or if you are ill.
She can be a master chef who always keeps your tummy filled.
A mother is a seamstress sewing buttons and patching holes.
And when playing in the snow she will make sure you don't catch cold.
A mother is a teacher with many lessons to give.
Anything from the ABC's to how life should be lived.
At your team's soccer game she is your cheering squad.
She'll show her support even if your game is flawed.
A mother is a super hero who fights evil sludge and slime.
She uses her super powers to clean things off of filth and grime.
A mother is a shoulder to cry upon at night
When bad dreams scare you or when mean monsters give a fright.
A mother gives you many things, which I could speak of,
But perhaps the best of these is that she gives you love.

I’m Only Saying, “No.”
This is a random poem I wrote. It's definitely an older one. I wrote it in 2010 during the summer. I figured I would share it on this blog too. I'm not sure how I feel about it. Maybe it needs some work. Maybe not. Also, I do think that my more recent poetry is definitely better, but it's still not too bad. This was, after all, before a poetry writing course. Take a read, and let me know what you think.
I’m Only Saying, “No.”
I don’t know what is wrong.
I can’t explain this feeling.
I feel like we’ve never met.
For a while you’d had me reeling.
Did you do something?
Was I under a spell?
It was a paradise to me,
But now it’s a hell.
I want to get away.
You’ve caused me pain.
When I asked for sunshine
All you gave me was rain.
We started out all right.
I felt that it was real.
I thought that it could be love.
But instead there’s now pain I feel.
I was number one.
I was the crux of your universe.
Now things have changed.
You are like a curse.
This has to stop.
It needs to end.
This is one heartache
That you cannot mend.
You’ll want to fix it, and
Try to make it right.
Save your breath though.
For it’s not worth the fight.
I’m saying were finished.
We’re finally done.
I know I was wrong.
You were not the one.
You’re telling me to wait
And hear your last plea.
I’m only saying, “No.” cause
You were no good for me.

He is...
Ok. I'm feeling cheesy and corny. But, I really like my boyfriend. :-P So that's where the inspiration for this one came from. I wanted to write some more for this month too considering it is National Poetry Month in April. Therefore, here is a new poem.
He is...
He is one of a kind.
He is loving.
He is a true gentleman.
He is attractive
He is my knight in armor.
He is smart.
He is my super hero.
He is adorable.
He is a wonderful singer.
He is devoted to me.
He is a hugger.
He is always there.
He is nerdy.
He is a genuine friend.
He is unselfish.
He is my Han Solo.
He is my shoulder to lean on.
He is handsome.
He is romantic.
He is my Captain Kirk.
He is an encourager.
He is funny.
He is precious to me.
He is my Jean Valjean.
He is sweet.
He is my partner in crime.
He is cute.
He is my Dark knight.
He is strong.
He is a good kisser.
He is my comforter.
He is always caring.
He is my dear.
He is the one I love.
He is all I think about.
He is all I want.
He is mine and I am his.
He is all I need.
What more could I require when I've got it all?
He is...
He is one of a kind.
He is loving.
He is a true gentleman.
He is attractive
He is my knight in armor.
He is smart.
He is my super hero.
He is adorable.
He is a wonderful singer.
He is devoted to me.
He is a hugger.
He is always there.
He is nerdy.
He is a genuine friend.
He is unselfish.

Why I said "yes"
Uh oh... I messed up already on this blog. I forgot to post this last Sunday. Well, I'm sorry. :-P Midterm week, visiting friends last weekend, and getting ready for an upcoming vacation has made me busy, but here is a poem to make up for it. Next week I'll be in Florida, so I may be late with posting another poem then, but hopefully I'll get another one up and ready soon enough. Here's the poem I have for this week. Enjoy.
Why I said "yes"
I stare at him from across the room.
Brown hair, brown eyes.
Eyes that glow back at you when you gaze into
them.
This was the man I fell in love with.
The man I married.
The man who makes me feel complete.
Wanted.
Adored.
Whole.
I look upon him. He looks back.
God, he is sexy.
He smiles at me and pulls me into his warm
embrace.
Who ever thought that a simple hug could be so
intimate?
I feel as though this is where I belong.
In his arms.
I never want to leave.
His arms around me make me feel safe.
Nothing can hurt me.
Nothing can separate us.
I love everything about him.
I suppose that's why I said "yes".
