The Banshee
Across the moors
And over the hills
The howls you hear
Will give you chills.
Do not wander
The highlands alone
For the banshee
Will surely moan.
Her cries of death
Can pierce your ears
Bringing to life
All of your fears.
If you meet her
Her deafening scream
Will make you wish
It's only a dream.
Her mangled face
Will terrify you.
So it's better
If you withdrew
From those lonely
And desolate hills
For the banshee call
Undoubtedly kills.
It was St. Patrick's day this week. And the Banshee is an Irish myth, so I thought that this would be appropriate to write and post. I hope that you enjoy it. I did get the inspiration for it from watching an episode of Destination Truth on St. Patrick's Day with my parents. It just so happened to be the old one where they are in Ireland investigating the Banshee. The first four lines I have had in my head since then and now I've finally gotten it written down. Happy Late St. Patrick's Day!
This is a blog where I'm helping develop my poetic creativity and sharing it with those who also enjoy writing and reading poems.

The Jack-o-lantern
The Jack-o-lantern
You pick me up off of the ground.
My color's orange. My shape is round.
I'm the ripest in the group
So I've been chosen from the troop.
For you I appear to be the best.
That's why you took me from the rest.
With some great skill you carve a face
Where once before was empty space.
Now I have two eyes that can see
And a smile that's rather scary.
You gaze upon my new expression
And take delight in your success in
Your new and eerie decorative piece
Which on Halloween you will release.
Now you're all set. Your carving is done.
Your front stoop will be a scary one.
Your jack-o-lantern this spooky night
May give trick-or-treaters quite a fright.
Here's another poem to celebrate this current season. This was actually one that I had saved in here for about a month, and just never finished. Hurray for Halloween, fall, October, and for finishing something! I love the fall. I'm sure I've said that several times in this blog already on other posts. :-P Anywhooo... I got to carve a pumpkin this year. It was by my front door. Sadly, they never last long enough. He wasn't able to sit there for long. He had to go yesterday. :-( But, seeing him whenever I went out or in of the apartment was always fun. Decorations always seem to put me a smile on my face. It's always fun putting things up and getting festive for whatever holiday/season it is. Taking them down on the other hand.......that's a different story. I also got festive with my feet too. :-P I painted my toes with some orange and then some glittery black crackle nail polish. Just ignore my ugly scar from my foot surgery. Happy Halloween!

Monsters Under Your Bed
I have returned from my trip! Hurray! Back to writing poetry! I hope to be writing some more new things to share. I'm glad to be back home now. :-P Here's a new poem for you!
Little kids always think that there's a monster in their room at sometime in their life. They get scared in the middle of the night and mom and dad will come in and reassure them that they are safe. There are no monsters in the closet. There are no monsters under the bed. Here is a poem I wrote about a little kid who has monsters come out from under the bed at night. They don't come to scare him, but to get him into trouble. But, the picture I posted is more of a cute monster reading with a little girl. I thought it was sweet, so I added it. :-P You can never grow wrong with a picture. Anyway... Let me know what you think! Comment, share, and enjoy! :-)
Monsters Under Your Bed
Nighttime is when
Monsters begin
To tiptoe and creep
Towards you as you sleep.
They will get you awake
By the noises they make.
They'll mess up your hair
Because they don't care.
They are monsters you see
And they'll do as they please.
They will tickle your toes
And they'll tug on your nose.
Using their armpit jelly
They'll make your room smelly.
Throwing clothes on the floor
And scratching up the floor.
They will break all of your toys
With a joyous monster noise.
And when they are threw
Destroying your room
They will make sure the blame
Is on you. It's a shame.
But your mom never sees
She only thinks you tease.
And your dad rolls his eyes.
To him they are just lies.
So until the next night
You'll just have to sleep tight.
And simply live with the fact
That your room's always attacked.
Live with being annoyed
With your room all destroyed
And the monsters will take pride
Under your bed where they hide.
